Amanda Anderson

IMG_198418 year-old, classical soprano, Amanda Anderson was diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome when she was in kindergarten; because of this, her parents didn’t know if she would ever go to college or have a job.  She received training to help her navigate the various Asperger’s challenges inside and outside of school; additionally, she trained in different aspects of the performing arts. This spring, Amanda was one of two finalists in the Los Angeles Music Center’s Spotlight Awards where she received a $4000 Award and a scholarship to participate in the 2015 Aspen Music Festival.  As a result of her long term efforts, she will be attending USC’s Thornton School of Music on a full scholarship for vocal arts this fall.

Her goal is to share her story, singing and to raise awareness for Asperger’s Syndrome by performing for various organizations, charities and children’s groups.  She will use her sponsorship to create a CD of her singing to encourage other families who struggle with Autism Spectrum to aspire for the seemingly unattainable and to strive for the big dreams.
